Female Vampire Among Coffins in the Catacombs is an image created by Nigel Wingrove in 2024 as part of an ongoing series imagining a hidden community of female vampires and their children living deep within the ancient catacombs beneath Paris.

Presented in stark black and white, the image depicts a solitary female vampire seated among a labyrinth of ancient coffins within a forgotten subterranean burial chamber. Illuminated by a shaft of light falling from an opening high above, she appears almost ceremonial amid the decaying caskets, dust and debris of the catacombs, a spectral inhabitant of a world sealed away from the living.

The image forms part of the wider In Death We Are in Life series, an imagined visual history of this secret subterranean world.
