Female Vampire in the Catacombs is an image created by Nigel Wingrove in 2024 as part of an ongoing series imagining a hidden community of female vampires and their children living deep within the ancient catacombs beneath Paris.

Presented in stark black and white, the image depicts an ethereal female vampire reclining upon an ancient coffin amid the crumbling stonework and debris of a forgotten burial chamber. Her pale, almost spectral appearance contrasts with the decaying surroundings, creating an image that sits somewhere between Gothic horror, dark romanticism, and a fragment from a lost silent film.

The image forms part of the wider In Death We Are in Life series, an imagined visual history of this secret subterranean world.

Each print is produced on premium 230gsm matt art paper with a 3mm white border and is supplied unframed.
