Snow Witch - Queen

Snow Witch – Queen is an image created by Nigel Wingrove in 2024 as part of an ongoing exploration of paganism, witchcraft, and imagined ritual.

A solitary witch stands beneath a full moon in a snow-covered forest, crowned with an elaborate headdress of tangled branches and winter foliage. Her long, ragged garments seem almost to grow from the forest floor, giving the figure the appearance of an ancient pagan queen emerging from the frozen landscape. Rendered in stark, near-monochrome tones, the image draws upon European folklore, folk horror and early cinematic representations of witchcraft, creating an atmosphere that is both mysterious and unsettling.
